Sign-me-up reward

Refer-a-mate Reward
Refer a friend to work at Apata and once they’ve completed 80 hours you’ll receive another $20 reward. There’s no limit to how many friends you can refer, but they must be new to Apata and only one person can claim a reward for each new employee.

Daily Shift Reward
At every shift at every Apata packhouse we’ll be randomly drawing at least one $20 reward. That means you’re in the draw to win at every single shift you work. Pretty sweet aye! $20 Daily Shift Rewards are drawn and given out weekly.

Short Staffed Shift Reward
If you choose to work on a shift that’s been classified by Apata as “short staffed” you’ll automatically be put in the draw for an extra $50 reward. Now that’s a pretty good reason to make yourself available to work short staffed shifts!

To help make it easy for you to earn some extra income with Apata, you have lots of choice with the hours you can work. Full time, part time, half shifts, Flexi Option, weekends only – you choose your days and hours. There is a 5 hour minimum requirement per shift but other than that it’s all up to you!

Collecting your prizes and rewards

Weekly winners of the 2 x $500 Prezzy cards can collect their prizes from Apata’s HR Office. Your “Sign me up” and other rewards will be available for collection 7 days after you’ve met the criteria. For full details simply talk to the HR team and they’ll take care of you.

Our Jobs
Starting in March each year we need seasonal workers to help pack and store the world’s greatest Kiwifruit!
The main season normally starts around the middle of March and runs till June. There’s also a secondary season where we check stored fruit – this starts around mid July and runs till November.
Hourly Rates
We offer competitive hourly rates for seasonal pack house staff.
Dayshift base rate is $22.75 + $1.25 harvest allowance = $24 per hour + 8% holiday pay.
Nightshift base rate is $22.75 + $1.25 harvest allowance + $2.00 night allowance = $26.00 per hour + 8% holiday pay.
Types of jobs
We’ve got all sorts of jobs including Packers, Strappers, Graders, Forklift Drivers, Stackers, Box Makers, Tray Preps and many more.
Locations
We’ve got two sites in the Bay of Plenty, one near Te Puke, and one towards Katikati. We’ve also got orchards located in Gisborne and the Manawatu/Whanganui Regions. Which one you choose depends on where you’d like to stay and how far you’re happy to travel to work.
Work Requirements
To be eligible to work at Apata you’ll need:
- To be at least 16 years of age;
- To be eligible to work in New Zealand (i.e. NZ Citizen, Permanent Resident, Work Visa or Student Visa);
- Proof of Identity (i.e. passport or birth certificate).
- A New Zealand Inland Revenue (IRD) number;
- A New Zealand bank account number.
Work Options
- Full-time: Can commit to 6 days per week and 10 hour shifts;
- Part-time: Can commit to half a shift on set days per week;
- Part-time school hours: Can commit to 9am – 3pm 5 or 6 days per week;
- Flexi Option: Pick your own shifts on a daily/weekly basis (min shift block of 5 hours per day);
- Weekend Worker: Can work one day or both days on the weekend.
